The Spark 50 is Tecno’s main budget phone for 2026, and its headline is battery life. Tecno Ghana lists a 6,700mAh battery, bigger than most phones at any price, with a 50MP camera and a smooth 120Hz screen.

Below are the full specs, what they mean in daily use, which version to pick, and how it compares with the Spark 50C and Spark 50 Pro.

Specs come from Tecno’s official pages, mainly Tecno Ghana’s spec pages, which list the versions sold here. Tecno sells slightly different versions in different countries (battery size especially), so check the box and Settings → About phone before you pay. We do not list cedi prices: they change with the exchange rate and between sellers.

Which version to buy

Sold asReal RAMStorageGood for
128GB + 12GB4GB128GBLight use: calls, WhatsApp, social media
128GB + 18GB6GB128GBMost people: smoother app switching
256GB + 24GB8GB256GBLots of photos and videos, light gaming
About “extended RAM”: Tecno advertises memory as, for example, “16GB RAM (8GB + 8GB extended)”. Only the first number is real RAM. The “extended” part borrows space from storage and is much slower. Compare phones by the real RAM figure.

Battery and charging

This is why people buy the Spark 50. Tecno says the 7,000mAh global version plays more than 28 hours of continuous video and keeps more than 80% of its capacity after 5 years. The Ghana version is a little smaller at 6,700mAh but should still last most people well over a day, which helps during dumsor.

The trade-off is slow 18W charging: a full charge from empty takes a few hours. An AI charging feature learns your routine to limit battery wear.

Display

The 6.78-inch screen runs at up to 120Hz for smooth scrolling. It is an HD+ panel, normal for this price but not as sharp or bright as the AMOLED screens on Camon phones. Tecno says it works with wet or oily hands.

Performance

The Helio G81 is an entry-level 4G chip. Everyday apps, WhatsApp, YouTube and mobile money run fine. Games such as Free Fire run, but on lower settings. Pick the 6GB or 8GB RAM version if you keep many apps open.

Camera

The 50MP main camera is a clear step up from the Spark 50C’s 13MP. Tecno adds FlashSnap, a fast shutter with AI that picks the best frame (good for children and moving subjects), and Live Photo, which records a moment before and after the shot. The 8MP selfie camera has its own flash for low light.

Durability

  • IP64: dust-tight and protected from splashes and rain. Keep it out of water.
  • Drops: Tecno says it survives drops of up to 1.8m.

Features worth knowing

  • FreeLink 2.0: calls and messages phone-to-phone with no network, up to about 1.5km in open space.
  • Signal enhancement sensor for weak-network areas.
  • Infrared remote for TVs, decoders and air conditioners.
  • Ella AI assistant, AI Writing, AI translation and AI call noise cancellation.

Spark 50 vs Spark 50 5G

Tecno also sells a separate Spark 50 5G with a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chip, a 6,500mAh battery and 45W charging. Make sure you know which one you are buying. 5G only helps where you have 5G coverage; see 5G phones in Ghana.

How it compares

Who it suits

  • Anyone who wants the longest battery life on a budget.
  • Students, riders, traders and anyone away from a socket all day.

Who should skip it

  • Gamers: the Spark 50 Pro’s chip is much faster.
  • People who need fast charging: 18W is slow with a battery this big.

Before you buy

  • Buy from Tecno’s official stores or an authorised dealer, and get a receipt and the warranty card.
  • Dial *#06# and check the IMEI matches the box. Check the model name in Settings → About phone.
  • Check the real RAM and storage in Settings; do not rely on the sticker.
  • If it is sold as new, the box should be sealed. Test the cameras, speakers, charging, fingerprint sensor and both SIM slots before you leave.
  • Water-resistance ratings are lab results. Tecno’s own small print says liquid damage is generally not covered by warranty, so do not swim with any of these phones.
