The Spark 50C is the entry model of Tecno’s Spark 50 family. It is built for buyers who want a tough, loud phone with a big screen at the lowest price, and who don’t need a great camera.
Here is everything Tecno lists for the phone, what the numbers mean in daily use, and how it compares with the rest of the range.
Specs come from Tecno’s official pages, mainly Tecno Ghana’s spec pages, which list the versions sold here. Tecno sells slightly different versions in different countries (battery size especially), so check the box and Settings → About phone before you pay. We do not list cedi prices: they change with the exchange rate and between sellers.

Display
The 6.78-inch screen runs at up to 120Hz, so scrolling feels smooth. The resolution is HD+ (720 × 1600), which is normal at this price; text is a little less sharp than on the Camon phones’ AMOLED screens. Tecno says the screen works with wet or oily hands, useful in rain or while cooking.
Performance
The Helio G81 is a basic 4G chip. It handles WhatsApp, calls, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and MoMo apps well. With only 4GB of real RAM, apps reload more often if you switch between many of them, and heavy games run on low settings. If you play a lot, look at the Spark 50 Pro instead.
Camera
The 13MP rear camera with dual flash is the Spark 50C’s weakest point. Daylight photos are fine for social media; low-light shots are softer. Tecno’s AI features such as BestMoment (picks the best frame from a burst) and Live Photo are included. The 8MP front camera is good enough for video calls.
Battery and charging
The 5,200mAh battery should last a full day for most people. Tecno quotes over 11 hours of continuous video and says the battery keeps more than 80% of its capacity after 4 years. Charging is slow at 15W, so a full charge takes a while; charge overnight. An AI charging mode learns your routine to reduce battery wear.
Durability and sound
- IP68 and IP69: Tecno’s listing for dust and water protection, unusual at this price.
- Drops: Tecno says it survives drops of up to 1.7m and holds an SGS 5-star rating.
- Speakers: dual speakers with a “300% volume boost”, useful in noisy places like trotros and markets.
- AI call noise cancellation to cut background noise on calls.
Features worth knowing
- FreeLink 2.0: calls and messages phone-to-phone over Bluetooth with no network, up to about 1.5km in open space (between Tecno phones that support it).
- Signal enhancement: Tecno says a dedicated sensor helps in weak-network areas.
- Infrared remote: control a TV, decoder or air conditioner from the phone.
- Ella AI assistant and AI Writing tools (write, proofread, summarise).
Who it suits
- First-time smartphone buyers, students and older relatives.
- People who need a tough phone for outdoor or market work.
- A backup phone for a second SIM.
Who should skip it
- Anyone who cares about photos: the Spark 50 has a 50MP camera.
- Gamers and heavy multitaskers: 4GB of real RAM is limiting.
Spark 50C vs Spark 50
The Spark 50 costs a bit more but adds a 50MP camera, a much bigger battery (6,700mAh in Ghana), slightly faster 18W charging and versions with more real RAM. The Spark 50C has the stronger water rating (IP68/IP69 against IP64). If your budget allows, the Spark 50 is the better all-round buy.
Before you buy
- Buy from Tecno’s official stores or an authorised dealer, and get a receipt and the warranty card.
- Dial *#06# and check the IMEI matches the box. Check the model name in Settings → About phone.
- Check the real RAM and storage in Settings; do not rely on the sticker.
- If it is sold as new, the box should be sealed. Test the cameras, speakers, charging, fingerprint sensor and both SIM slots before you leave.
- Water-resistance ratings are lab results. Tecno’s own small print says liquid damage is generally not covered by warranty, so do not swim with any of these phones.
