The Camon 50 Ultra 5G is the most powerful phone in Tecno’s 2026 Camon 50 series. It keeps the Camon 50 Pro’s camera system and adds 5G, a much faster chip, a better selfie camera and more storage.

Specs come from Tecno’s official pages, mainly Tecno Ghana’s spec pages, which list the versions sold here. Tecno sells slightly different versions in different countries (battery size especially), so check the box and Settings → About phone before you pay. We do not list cedi prices: they change with the exchange rate and between sellers.

About “extended RAM”: Tecno advertises memory as, for example, “16GB RAM (8GB + 8GB extended)”. Only the first number is real RAM. The “extended” part borrows space from storage and is much slower. Compare phones by the real RAM figure.

Performance

The Dimensity 7400 Ultimate is the big difference. Tecno quotes an AnTuTu score of about 799,352, against about 504,612 for the Helio G200 Ultimate in the Camon 50 and 50 Pro (Tecno’s own tests on top-spec pre-production units). In practice that means faster app loading, smoother multitasking and better gaming, with Tecno listing up to 120fps in supported games. Tecno says TÜV SÜD rated it for smooth performance over 72 months.

5G and eSIM

5G gives faster data where MTN or Telecel 5G is available, and the phone falls back to 4G elsewhere. Read 5G phones in Ghana before paying extra just for 5G. Tecno also lists eSIM support with a note that availability varies by market, so confirm it works on your Ghana network before relying on it.

Cameras

  • 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main with OIS for steady night photos and video.
  • 50MP 3x telephoto (70mm) for zoom and portraits, with up to 60x AI SuperZoom.
  • 8MP ultra-wide for groups and buildings.
  • 50MP autofocus selfie, a clear step up from the 32MP fixed-focus selfie on the Camon 50 and 50 Pro, and better for creators who film themselves.

You also get Super-Zoom FlashSnap, BestMoment 2.0, AI Auto Zoom, Live Photo, AI LightMaster 2.0 editing and Universal Tone skin-tone tuning.

Display

A 6.78-inch AMOLED with gently curved sides, 1.5K resolution, up to 144Hz and 2,800Hz touch sampling. Curved screens need a matching curved or liquid-glue screen protector.

Battery and charging

The Ghana version lists 6,150mAh with 45W charging. Tecno says the battery keeps over 80% capacity after 1,800 cycles and supports full charging in heat up to 45°C. The phone has Tecno’s largest cooling area in the series to help during gaming.

Durability

It has the widest set of ratings in the range: IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66, plus MIL-STD-810 testing for drops and twists. Liquid damage is still generally not covered, so treat the ratings as insurance against accidents.

Software and AI

  • 3 Android updates over 5 years (Tecno’s promise).
  • One-Tap AI key, Ella assistant, FlashMemo notes and AI Notes for YouTube.
  • TECNO Cloud: 50GB free a year for three years.
  • Tap to transfer files over NFC, including with iPhones, and Offline Find My Phone.

Who it suits

  • Gamers and power users who want the fastest Camon 50.
  • Creators who film themselves: the 50MP autofocus selfie camera makes a difference.
  • Anyone who wants 5G and plenty of storage (512GB).

Who should skip it

  • If you mostly use WhatsApp, social media and photos, the Camon 50 Pro has the same rear cameras for less.
  • If you don’t need zoom, look at the Camon 50.

Before you buy

  • Buy from Tecno’s official stores or an authorised dealer, and get a receipt and the warranty card.
  • Dial *#06# and check the IMEI matches the box. Check the model name in Settings → About phone.
  • Check the real RAM and storage in Settings; do not rely on the sticker.
  • If it is sold as new, the box should be sealed. Test the cameras, speakers, charging, fingerprint sensor and both SIM slots before you leave.
  • Water-resistance ratings are lab results. Tecno’s own small print says liquid damage is generally not covered by warranty, so do not swim with any of these phones.
