The Camon 50 Pro is the middle model of Tecno’s 2026 Camon 50 series and the one most buyers looking at a camera phone should consider. Compared with the standard Camon 50, it adds a proper 3x zoom camera and a slightly curved screen.

Specs come from Tecno’s official pages, mainly Tecno Ghana’s spec pages, which list the versions sold here. Tecno sells slightly different versions in different countries (battery size especially), so check the box and Settings → About phone before you pay. We do not list cedi prices: they change with the exchange rate and between sellers.

About “extended RAM”: Tecno advertises memory as, for example, “16GB RAM (8GB + 8GB extended)”. Only the first number is real RAM. The “extended” part borrows space from storage and is much slower. Compare phones by the real RAM figure.

Cameras

50MP main camera

The same Sony LYTIA 700C sensor as the Camon 50: a large 1/1.56-inch sensor, f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilisation (OIS) for steadier night shots and video.

50MP 3x telephoto

This is the reason to choose the Pro. A 70mm lens gives true 3x zoom, so you can shoot the pulpit, a stage or a football pitch from the back without losing much detail. The 70mm focal length also suits portraits, with flattering faces and blurred backgrounds. Beyond 3x, “AI 60x SuperZoom” uses AI to sharpen digital zoom; expect useful results at moderate zoom and softer ones at the top end.

8MP ultra-wide and 32MP selfie

The ultra-wide fits group photos and buildings. The 32MP selfie camera handles video calls and content.

Camera software includes FlashSnap with zoom (“Super-Zoom FlashSnap”), BestMoment 2.0, AI Auto Zoom, Live Photo, AI flare, reflection and shadow removal, and Tecno’s Universal Tone for accurate skin tones.

Display

The 6.78-inch AMOLED is slightly curved (43.5°) at the sides, which looks premium and feels comfortable in the hand. It runs at up to 144Hz with 1.5K sharpness and 2,800Hz touch sampling. Curved screens need a curved or liquid-glue screen protector, so ask the seller.

Performance

The Helio G200 Ultimate is MediaTek’s latest 4G chip, the same as in the Camon 50. It handles everyday apps and popular games such as PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, COD Mobile and MLBB well. Tecno’s Frozen Cooling Pro system helps during long sessions.

Battery and charging

The Ghana version has a 6,150mAh battery with 45W charging. Tecno says the battery keeps more than 80% capacity after 1,800 charge cycles and can fully charge in heat up to 45°C. Most users should get well over a day of use.

Durability

Tecno lists IP69K, IP69 and IP68, covering dust, high-pressure jets, hot water and immersion, plus MIL-STD-810 testing. Tecno even promotes underwater photos, but water resistance wears over time and liquid damage is generally not covered by warranty.

Software and AI

  • 3 Android updates over 5 years (Tecno’s promise).
  • One-Tap AI key for quick notes (FlashMemo) and AI tools.
  • Ella assistant, AI Notes for YouTube, AI wallpapers, and an AI Health Assistant (availability varies by country).
  • TECNO Cloud: 50GB free a year for three years.
  • Tap to transfer over NFC, including with iPhones, and Offline Find My Phone.

Who it suits

  • Anyone who shoots events, church, sports or portraits and wants real zoom.
  • Content creators on a mid-range budget.

Who should skip it

  • If you don’t need zoom, the Camon 50 gives the same main camera and screen for less.
  • If you need 5G or want the fastest chip, get the Camon 50 Ultra 5G.

Before you buy

  • Buy from Tecno’s official stores or an authorised dealer, and get a receipt and the warranty card.
  • Dial *#06# and check the IMEI matches the box. Check the model name in Settings → About phone.
  • Check the real RAM and storage in Settings; do not rely on the sticker.
  • If it is sold as new, the box should be sealed. Test the cameras, speakers, charging, fingerprint sensor and both SIM slots before you leave.
  • Water-resistance ratings are lab results. Tecno’s own small print says liquid damage is generally not covered by warranty, so do not swim with any of these phones.
