The Galaxy A18 is Samsung’s newest budget phone, launched in September 2026. It replaces the MediaTek chips of earlier A1x phones with Samsung’s own Exynos 1610, and keeps the long update promise.

Here are the specs from Samsung Africa, with charging and display details from Samsung’s European launch.

Specs come from each maker’s official spec page (Tecno Ghana’s pages for Tecno phones, which list the versions sold here). Makers sell slightly different versions in different countries, so check the box and Settings → About phone before you pay. We do not list cedi prices because they change with the exchange rate and between sellers.

Display

A 6.7-inch Super AMOLED at FHD+ (1080 × 2340), reported at 90Hz. AMOLED gives deeper blacks and better sunlight visibility than the LCD on the Galaxy A07. Gorilla Glass 3 protects the front.

Performance

The Exynos 1610 is a new Samsung chip with two cores at 2.2GHz and six at 2GHz. Early details are limited, but it is aimed at the same class as the Helio G99/G100 chips. With 4GB of RAM it handles everyday apps well; it is not a gaming phone.

Cameras

A 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro, plus a 13MP selfie camera. The ultra-wide is a useful addition over the A07 for group photos.

Battery and charging

5,000mAh with 25W charging; Samsung says about 50% in 30 minutes at launch. No wireless charging.

Durability

Galaxy A18 (IP64) is dust-tight and protects against splashes and rain. Treat it as protection against accidents, not permission to swim with it.

Software and extras

One UI with Circle to Search and some Galaxy AI tools. Samsung promises up to 6 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates, so a phone bought today should stay secure into 2032.

  • Circle to Search
  • Gorilla Glass 3 front

Who it suits

  • Samsung fans on a budget who want an AMOLED screen.
  • People who keep phones for many years.

Who should skip it

  • Heavy users who want more RAM: 4GB is tight. Look at the Galaxy A27.

How it compares

Before you buy

  • Buy from the brand’s own shop or an authorised dealer, and keep the receipt and warranty card.
  • Dial *#06# and check the IMEI matches the box. Check the model in Settings → About phone.
  • Check the real RAM and storage in Settings, not just the sticker.
  • Test the cameras, speakers, charging port, fingerprint sensor and both SIM slots before you leave the shop.
  • Water-resistance ratings are lab results and wear over time. Most makers don’t cover liquid damage under warranty.
