## Signs a site is a scam

- **You pay to join, upgrade a “level” or unlock withdrawals.** Real work sites pay you.
- **Daily returns or tasks like liking videos** that pay suspiciously well.
- **Earnings come from recruiting others.**
- **Withdrawals keep getting delayed**, or need a new “fee”.
- **Only WhatsApp or Telegram contact**, no company details.
- **It asks for your MoMo PIN, OTP or bank login.**

**Red flags:** anyone asking you to pay a “registration”, “training” or “activation” fee before you can earn; promised daily returns; or earnings that depend on recruiting people. Those are scams. Report them to the Cyber Security Authority: 292 (call or text), WhatsApp 0501603111, report@csa.gov.gh.

## How to check a site before you start

1. Search the site’s name plus “scam” and “reviews”.
2. Check how long it has existed and whether it lists a real company and address.
3. Read the terms: who pays, how and when?
4. Start small and withdraw early to test it.
5. If it involves investing money, check its licence with SEC Ghana. See [how to spot a fake investment platform](https://chale.tech/fake-investment-platforms-ghana/).

## Common questions

### Do survey sites really pay?

Some genuine survey sites pay small amounts, but availability for Ghana is often limited and earnings are low. Never pay to join one.

### What is the most reliable way to earn online?

Selling a real skill (writing, design, coding, virtual assistance) to clients through established platforms or directly.

### Why do some sites need me to deposit money?

Legitimate work sites pay you; they do not ask you to deposit money to unlock tasks or withdraw. That is a scam.

### How do I check if a site is legit?

Look for a long track record, clear company details, real reviews from many users, and no upfront fees.
