Full specs and who should buy it. - Author: Isaac Nana Yaw Annor - Tags: Gadgets, Buying guide The Camon 50 is the starting point of Tecno’s 2026 camera-focused Camon 50 series. It shares the main camera, screen, chip and battery of the Camon 50 Pro, but skips the zoom camera and uses a flat screen. For many buyers it is the sweet spot of the range. Here are the full specs and what they mean. *Specs come from Tecno’s official pages, mainly Tecno Ghana’s spec pages, which list the versions sold here. Tecno sells slightly different versions in different countries (battery size especially), so check the box and Settings → About phone before you pay. We do not list cedi prices: they change with the exchange rate and between sellers.* ## Camon 50 specs at a glance | Spec | Tecno Camon 50 | | ------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Display | 6.78-inch flat AMOLED, 144Hz, 1.5K (1208 × 2644) | | Processor | MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate | | Real RAM | 8GB or 12GB (sold as 16GB or 24GB with extended RAM) | | Storage | 128GB or 256GB | | Rear cameras | 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main (1/1.56-inch, f/1.8, OIS) + 8MP ultra-wide (112°) | | Front camera | 32MP | | Battery | 6,150mAh (Tecno Ghana); 6,500mAh on Tecno’s global page | | Charging | 45W | | Water/dust | IP69K, IP69 and IP68 | | Toughness | MIL-STD-810 (Tecno) | | Software | HiOS 16 (Android), 3 Android updates over 5 years | | Network | 2G, 3G, 4G (no 5G) | | Connectivity | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, FM radio, GPS, OTG, USB-C, infrared remote | | Speakers | Dual speakers, Dolby Atmos | | Size | 162.37 × 77.17 × 7.53mm | | Colours | Moonshadow Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, Cream Mint | ## Versions | Sold as | Real RAM | Storage | | ------------ | -------- | ------- | | 128GB + 16GB | 8GB | 128GB | | 256GB + 16GB | 8GB | 256GB | | 256GB + 24GB | 12GB | 256GB | **About “extended RAM”:** Tecno advertises memory as, for example, “16GB RAM (8GB + 8GB extended)”. Only the first number is real RAM. The “extended” part borrows space from storage and is much slower. Compare phones by the real RAM figure. ## Camera The 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera uses a large 1/1.56-inch sensor, an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilisation (OIS), which keeps night photos and video steadier. The 8MP ultra-wide fits more people or scenery into the frame. A flicker sensor reduces banding under fluorescent and LED lights. - **FlashSnap and BestMoment 2.0:** fast shutter that picks the best frame of moving subjects. - **AI Auto Zoom:** spots people, pets or birds and saves extra cropped versions of the photo. - **Live Photo and slow motion.** - **AI editing:** remove flare, reflections and shadows (AI LightMaster 2.0), and turn photos into short videos. - **Universal Tone:** Tecno’s colour tuning for accurate skin tones on darker skin. The 32MP selfie camera is sharp enough for content creation and video calls. ## Display The flat 6.78-inch AMOLED screen is a big upgrade over the Spark range: sharper 1.5K resolution, deeper blacks, a faster 144Hz refresh rate and 2,800Hz touch sampling for games. Tecno lists ProXDR eye-care features. Flat screens are also easier to fit with a screen protector than curved ones. ## Performance The Helio G200 Ultimate is MediaTek’s newest 4G gaming chip. Tecno quotes an AnTuTu score of about 504,612 (its own test on a top-spec pre-production unit). Expect smooth everyday use and good performance in popular games. Tecno’s Frozen Cooling Pro system spreads heat during long sessions. ## Battery and charging - **Ghana version:** 6,150mAh with 45W charging. - **Lifespan:** Tecno says the battery keeps over 80% of its capacity after 1,800 cycles, and can fully charge in heat up to 45°C. - **Endurance:** Tecno cites TÜV SÜD testing of over 2 days (for the 6,500mAh global version). ## Durability Tecno lists IP69K, IP69 and IP68: protection against dust, high-pressure water jets (100 bar), hot water up to 80°C and immersion. Tecno also cites MIL-STD-810 military-standard testing for drops and twisting. Tecno promotes underwater photography, but its small print says water resistance wears over time and liquid damage is generally not covered. ## Software and AI - **Updates:** Tecno promises 3 Android version updates over 5 years, better than most budget phones. - **One-Tap AI key:** a side button for quick AI tools, such as FlashMemo to save notes and to-dos instantly. - **Ella assistant**, AI Notes for YouTube videos, and an AI Health Assistant (availability varies by country). - **TECNO Cloud:** 50GB of free cloud storage a year for three years. - **Offline Find My Phone:** can help locate the phone even with mobile data off. - **Tap to transfer:** NFC-based file sharing, including with iPhones. Tecno notes that some AI features arrive later by software update and vary by country. ## Camon 50 vs Camon 50 Pro vs Ultra 5G - **Camon 50:** flat screen, no zoom camera, 32MP selfie. - [**Camon 50 Pro**](https://chale.tech/tecno-camon-50-pro-specs/)**:** adds a 50MP 3x telephoto camera and a slightly curved screen. - [**Camon 50 Ultra 5G**](https://chale.tech/tecno-camon-50-ultra-5g-specs/)**:** adds 5G, the faster Dimensity 7400 chip, a 50MP autofocus selfie camera and up to 512GB storage. ## Who it suits - People who want a great main camera and AMOLED screen without paying for zoom. - Buyers who prefer flat screens. - Anyone who wants long software support. ## Who should skip it - People who shoot zoom photos at events or church: get the Camon 50 Pro. - Anyone who needs 5G: get the Camon 50 Ultra 5G. ## Before you buy - Buy from Tecno’s official stores or an authorised dealer, and get a receipt and the warranty card. - Dial **\*#06#** and check the IMEI matches the box. Check the model name in Settings → About phone. - Check the real RAM and storage in Settings; do not rely on the sticker. - If it is sold as new, the box should be sealed. Test the cameras, speakers, charging, fingerprint sensor and both SIM slots before you leave. - Water-resistance ratings are lab results. Tecno’s own small print says liquid damage is generally not covered by warranty, so do not swim with any of these phones. ## Keep reading - Comparing models?
