Full specs and who should buy it. - Author: Isaac Nana Yaw Annor - Tags: Gadgets, Buying guide The Camon 40 Pro launched in 2025 as the step-up model of the Camon 40 series. Its strengths are a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, a curved AMOLED screen and stronger water resistance than the standard Camon 40. Tecno also sells a separate **Camon 40 Pro 5G** and a **Camon 40 Premier 5G**; this guide covers the 4G Camon 40 Pro. *Specs come from Tecno’s official pages, mainly Tecno Ghana’s spec pages, which list the versions sold here. Tecno sells slightly different versions in different countries (battery size especially), so check the box and Settings → About phone before you pay. We do not list cedi prices: they change with the exchange rate and between sellers.* ## Camon 40 Pro specs at a glance | Spec | Tecno Camon 40 Pro | | --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Display | 6.78-inch curved AMOLED, 120Hz, 1080 × 2436 (FHD+) | | Processor | MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate | | RAM and storage | 8GB real RAM (sold as “16GB” with 8GB extended), 256GB storage | | Rear cameras | 50MP Sony LYT-700C (1/1.56-inch, OIS) + 8MP ultra-wide, dual flash, flicker sensor | | Front camera | 50MP autofocus with eye tracking | | Battery | 5,200mAh | | Charging | 45W | | Water/dust | IP68 and IP69 (SGS tested) | | Software | Android 15 (HiOS) | | Network | 2G, 3G, 4G | | Connectivity | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, FM radio, GPS, USB-C, OTG, infrared remote | | Speakers | Dual speakers, Dolby Atmos | | Size | 164.44 × 74.32 × 7.31mm | | Colours | Galaxy Black, Emerald Lake Green, Glacier White, Sandy Titanium | **About “extended RAM”:** Tecno advertises memory as, for example, “16GB RAM (8GB + 8GB extended)”. Only the first number is real RAM. The “extended” part borrows space from storage and is much slower. Compare phones by the real RAM figure. ## Selfie camera The main reason to choose the Pro over the Camon 40\. The 50MP front camera has autofocus with eye tracking, so faces stay sharp when you move, hold the phone at arm’s length or film yourself talking. It is a good fit for TikTok, YouTube and Instagram creators. ## Rear cameras The same as the Camon 40: a 50MP Sony LYT-700C main camera with OIS and a large 1/1.56-inch sensor, plus an 8MP ultra-wide with AI distortion correction. - **One-Tap FlashSnap:** double-press the One-Tap button to shoot instantly; it picks the best of 15 frames a second. - **AutoSnap** and multi-focal portraits at 24mm, 35mm and 50mm. - **AI Eraser 2.0, AI Image Extender, AI Sharpness Plus and AI Perfect Face.** ## Display A curved 6.78-inch AMOLED at FHD+ and 120Hz with a 94% screen-to-body ratio. The curve looks premium; use a curved or liquid-glue screen protector. ## Performance and battery The Helio G100 Ultimate and 8GB of real RAM give smooth daily use and decent gaming. The 5,200mAh battery with 45W charging gets most people through a day and refills quickly. ## Durability Tecno lists IP68 and IP69 based on SGS lab tests: a clear upgrade over the Camon 40’s IP66\. Tecno’s small print says protection can decline with daily wear, not to charge the phone wet, and that liquid damage is not covered. ## AI features - **Circle to Search with Google.** - **AI call assistant:** noise cancellation, call translation (English, French, Arabic and more), call summaries and AI Auto Answer for unknown callers. - **Ella assistant** (long-press the One-Tap button), AI Writing and AI Translate. ## How it compares - [**Camon 40**](https://chale.tech/tecno-camon-40-specs/)**:** same main camera, chip and battery; 32MP selfie, IP66, cheaper. - [**Camon 50 Pro**](https://chale.tech/tecno-camon-50-pro-specs/)**:** adds a 3x zoom camera, 144Hz 1.5K screen, bigger battery, newer chip and 3 Android updates over 5 years. - [**Camon 30**](https://chale.tech/tecno-camon-30-specs/)**:** older, with faster 70W charging and a 50MP autofocus selfie camera too. ## Who it suits - Selfie and vlogging fans. - People who want strong water resistance and a premium curved design at a lower price than the Camon 50 Pro. ## Who should skip it - Zoom photographers: get the Camon 50 Pro. - Anyone who needs 5G: look at the Camon 40 Pro 5G or [Camon 50 Ultra 5G](https://chale.tech/tecno-camon-50-ultra-5g-specs/). ## Before you buy - Buy from Tecno’s official stores or an authorised dealer, and get a receipt and the warranty card. - Dial **\*#06#** and check the IMEI matches the box. Check the model name in Settings → About phone. - Check the real RAM and storage in Settings; do not rely on the sticker. - If it is sold as new, the box should be sealed. Test the cameras, speakers, charging, fingerprint sensor and both SIM slots before you leave. - Water-resistance ratings are lab results. Tecno’s own small print says liquid damage is generally not covered by warranty, so do not swim with any of these phones. ## Keep reading - Comparing models?
