Starlink is satellite internet from SpaceX. A dish on your roof talks to satellites overhead, so you can get broadband where fibre and mobile signal are weak. Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) approved Starlink in 2024, and it is now live.

## Who it suits

- Homes and businesses outside fibre areas.
- Rural schools, clinics, farms and lodges.
- People who need a backup connection when fibre or mobile networks fail.

In fibre areas, fibre is usually cheaper and faster for the money. Compare first: [internet service providers in Ghana](https://chale.tech/internet-service-providers-ghana/).

## How to get it

1. Check coverage and current plans on **Starlink’s Ghana service plans page**.
2. Order the kit from Starlink’s website or an authorised reseller.
3. Set up the dish with a clear view of the sky (no trees or tall buildings blocking it).
4. Activate in the Starlink app and choose your plan.

## Costs

You pay for the kit (one-off) and a monthly service plan. Prices for Ghana have changed since launch, so check the current figures on Starlink’s site rather than relying on social media posts.

## Things to check

- **Clear sky view:** the app helps you find the best spot.
- **Power:** Starlink needs constant power; plan a UPS or inverter for dumsor.
- **Second-hand kits:** make sure the seller can transfer the kit to your account and that it works. Avoid kits that may be stolen or region-locked.
- **Buy from official channels** to get warranty and support.

Be wary of “Starlink agents” on social media asking for full payment upfront. Buy through Starlink’s website or verified resellers.

*This guide was checked in October 2026\. Menus and services change, so if something looks different on your phone, check with your provider.*

## Common questions

### Is Starlink legal in Ghana?

Yes. The National Communications Authority approved Starlink in Ghana in 2024.

### How much does Starlink cost in Ghana?

Prices for the kit and monthly plans change. Check the current prices on Starlink’s Ghana service plans page before buying.

### Is Starlink better than fibre?

### Can I buy a used Starlink kit?

You can, but make sure it can be transferred to your account and is in good working order. Buying through official channels is safest.
