A remote job means working for a company (often abroad) from your home in Ghana, usually as an employee or long-term contractor. Unlike freelancing, it is a steady role with a regular salary.

## Where to look

- **LinkedIn Jobs:** filter by “Remote” and search for “worldwide”, “Africa” or “EMEA” roles.
- **Remote-focused job boards:** sites such as We Work Remotely, Remote OK and Remotive list remote roles; check each listing’s location rules.
- **Company career pages:** many tech and customer-support companies hire across Africa.
- **African job boards** and tech community groups, where Ghanaian and pan-African startups post roles.
- **Employer-of-record hiring:** some companies hire people in Ghana through services that handle local contracts and payroll.

## Roles that are often remote

- Customer support and virtual assistance.
- Software development, data and IT support.
- Writing, editing and content marketing.
- Design and video.
- Sales and business development.

## Before you apply

- Read the location requirements: “remote (US only)” is not open to you.
- Check time zones and working hours.
- Make sure you have reliable power, internet and a backup plan.
- Prepare a short, clear CV and a LinkedIn profile that matches it.

## Fake remote jobs: warning signs

- You must pay for registration, training, equipment or “processing”.
- Interviews happen only by text on WhatsApp or Telegram.
- The salary is very high for very simple work.
- They ask for your bank details, Ghana Card or MoMo PIN before any contract.
- The company has no real website or the email is a free Gmail address.

**Red flags:** anyone asking you to pay a “registration”, “training” or “activation” fee before you can earn; promised daily returns; or earnings that depend on recruiting people. Those are scams. Report them to the Cyber Security Authority: 292 (call or text), WhatsApp 0501603111, report@csa.gov.gh.
