# How to pay your Ghana Water bill on your phone

Ghana Water (formerly GWCL) wants more customers to pay digitally. In January 2026, its managing director said only 20 to 30% of domestic users pay digitally. Paying on your phone saves a trip and gives you instant proof of payment.

## What you need

- Your **account number** from your water bill.
- The amount you want to pay.
- Money in your mobile money wallet.

## MTN MoMo

1. Dial **\*170#**.
2. Choose **MoMo Pay & Pay Bill**, then the utilities option.
3. Select **Ghana Water**.
4. Enter your account number and the amount.
5. Confirm the account name, then enter your PIN.

## Telecel Cash and AT Money

Dial **\*110#** and look for bill payments or utilities, then Ghana Water. A 2024 Ghana News Agency report quoted the water company pointing customers to these codes.

Menus and codes change from time to time. If an option number on your phone differs from the one here, follow the option names instead.

## The GWCL app

A GWCL bill payment app is available on the app stores. You select your account, enter the amount and pay by mobile money or card.

## Keep proof

- Save the confirmation SMS and transaction ID.
- If your next bill does not show the payment, contact Ghana Water with those details.

Pay only through official menus and apps. Do not pay “meter officers” or strangers on WhatsApp who offer discounts or to clear your arrears.
