Yes, you can earn from YouTube in Ghana. Ghana is on YouTube’s list of countries where the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) is available. Getting there takes consistent, original content, and ads are only one way to earn.

## The requirements for ad revenue

To share in ad revenue, YouTube requires:

- **1,000 subscribers**, plus either
- **4,000 valid public watch hours** in the last 12 months, or
- **10 million valid public Shorts views** in the last 90 days.

You also need to follow YouTube’s monetisation policies, live in an eligible country, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, turn on 2-step verification for your Google account, and link an AdSense account.

YouTube’s lower entry tier (500 subscribers, 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views) belongs to its **expanded** Partner Program. At the time of writing, Ghana is not on the expanded programme’s country list, so plan for the 1,000-subscriber threshold.

## How to apply

1. Open **YouTube Studio** and go to **Earn**.
2. Check your progress towards the thresholds.
3. When eligible, accept the terms, set up or link **Google AdSense**, and submit for review.
4. YouTube reviews your channel against its policies.

## Rules that get channels rejected

- **Reused content:** re-uploading others’ videos or clips without meaningful changes.
- **Inauthentic content:** mass-produced or templated videos, including generic AI content without your own perspective (YouTube’s July 2025 update).
- Copyrighted music and footage you do not have rights to.

## Other ways to earn on YouTube

- **Sponsorships** with Ghanaian and international brands.
- **Affiliate links** for products you recommend.
- **Selling your own products or services** to your audience.
- **Channel memberships, Super Chat and Super Thanks** once eligible.

## Getting paid

YouTube pays through Google AdSense. In your AdSense account, add your payment details and check which payment methods are offered for Ghana. Keep your name and address exactly as on your ID, because AdSense may verify them.

## Growing to 1,000 subscribers

- Pick a clear niche you can make 50 videos about.
- Post consistently, even weekly.
- Study which videos get watched to the end and make more like them.
- Use Shorts to get discovered, and long videos to build watch hours.
