AI image generators turn a text description into a picture. They are useful for illustrations, social media posts, presentation slides and thumbnail ideas, and several have free options.

## Well-known options

- **ChatGPT:** can create images from a description in the chat, with limits on free use.
- **Google Gemini:** can generate images in the Gemini app.
- **Microsoft Designer / Copilot:** image creation with a Microsoft account.
- **Canva:** AI image features inside the designer, so you can drop results straight into a flyer.
- **Adobe Firefly:** designed with commercial use in mind; free credits with an Adobe account.

*Tools and free plans change often. We name well-known tools that work in Ghana at the time of writing, without prices, because plans and limits are updated regularly.*

## How to write a good image prompt

Describe: **subject + setting + style + mood + format**.

> A smiling Ghanaian woman selling tomatoes at a busy Kumasi market, bright afternoon light, realistic photo style, wide horizontal image.

- Add a style: “flat illustration”, “watercolour”, “3D render”, “photo”.
- Say what you do not want: “no text”, “plain background”.
- Generate several and pick the best.

## Tips for better results

- **Add text later** in Canva; AI tools often misspell words in images.
- **Check hands, faces and logos** for strange details.
- **Use the right shape:** square for Instagram, tall for Status and Reels, wide for YouTube thumbnails.

## Rules to follow

- **Check the tool’s terms** before using images commercially.
- **Do not create realistic images of real people**, or fake news photos.
- **Be honest in advertising:** do not use AI images that misrepresent a product you sell.
- **Do not copy brands or other artists’ work.**

## Common questions

### Can I use AI images commercially?

It depends on each tool’s terms. Many allow commercial use on paid plans; some free plans have limits. Check the terms before using images in ads.

### Why do AI images get text and hands wrong?

Image models still struggle with small details like text, hands and logos. Add text afterwards in Canva instead.

### Can I make images of real people?

Avoid it. Creating realistic images of real people without consent can be harmful and may break the tool’s rules and the law.

### Which tool is easiest?

Canva and the image features in ChatGPT or Gemini are the easiest starting points for most people.
