# How to buy ECG prepaid or pay your ECG bill on your phone

Lights about to go off and no vendor nearby? You can buy ECG prepaid credit or pay your postpaid bill from your phone, any time. ECG has moved to a cashless system, and its offices no longer accept cash.

## Option 1: the ECG Power App (smartphones)

1. Download the **ECG Power App** from Google Play or the App Store.
2. Create an account.
3. Add your meter or account number.
4. Top up prepaid or pay your bill using mobile money.

## Option 2: \*226# (any phone)

On a basic phone, dial **\*226#** and follow the prompts.

ECG has said using the Power App or \*226# does not attract MoMo charges or E-levy.

## Option 3: third-party vendors

ECG also lists third-party vendors for buying credit. Use reputable ones.

## Before you pay

- Check the meter or account number carefully: credit bought for the wrong meter is hard to recover.
- Confirm the name shown matches the property.
- Save the token/receipt SMS until the credit shows on your meter.

## Credit not showing?

- Check the confirmation SMS for the token, and enter it on the meter if needed.
- For smart (MMS-compliant) meters, credit may take a short while to reflect.
- Contact ECG with the transaction reference if it still does not show.

Use only official apps, websites and short codes. Never pay strangers who offer to “help” with a government service, and never share your PIN or OTP.
