*We do not list cedi prices in this guide: laptop prices in Ghana change with the exchange rate and between sellers every few weeks. Use the specs here to judge any offer.*

## What matters for student life in Ghana

- **Battery life:** outages and full lecture halls with few sockets. Look for long real-world battery life, and check reviews.
- **Durability:** hostel life and trotro trips. Business-grade laptops tend to be tougher.
- **Weight:** you will carry it all day.
- **Keyboard:** you will type a lot of essays.
- **Windows 11 support**, for security updates through your degree.

## Check before you buy

- Ask your department or seniors which software you will need.

## Protect it

- Use a surge protector; power returns after dumsor can come with spikes.
- Back up assignments to Google Drive or OneDrive.
- Set a Windows password and turn on device encryption if available.
